Day 01: Welcome to Lima - Peru

Welcome to Lima, Peru. When you arrive at Lima International Airport, our representative will meet you at the international exit gate with a sign showing your name. You will be transferred to your hotel in Miraflores, where you can relax after your flight. No tours are scheduled for this afternoon, so you may settle in or explore the area at your leisure. 

Please confirm your flight details, including airline, flight number, and estimated arrival time so we can arrange your airport pickup.

Day 02: Flight to Puerto Maldonado.

River journey to Tambopata Ecolodge.

Important: You will need a flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado. Please book an early flight that arrives before 1pm.

Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, our staff will meet you and escort you on a 68-kilometer journey to Tambopata Ecolodge, traveling 23 kilometers by vehicle and 45 kilometers by boat along the Tambopata River. As we leave the town, the landscape transitions from deforested areas to pristine rainforest. River travel offers excellent opportunities to observe native flora and Amazonian wildlife, guided by our experienced naturalists. A box lunch will be served on the boat. After settling into your accommodation, your guide will lead a walk along forest trails, where you may see giant Brazil nut trees, brown capuchin monkeys, agoutis, blue morpho butterflies, trogons, toucans and other bird species. In the evening, a slideshow will introduce you to the rainforest’s wonders. Following a buffet-style dinner, a guided night walk provides a chance to spot nocturnal monkeys and learn about Amazonian insects while experiencing the unique sounds of the forest at night.

Day 03: Forest trails and wetlands

After a buffet breakfast and a short morning boat ride, we will walk a forest trail and explore Condenado oxbow lake by canoe. The wetlands, rich in tropical vegetation, offer excellent opportunities for birdwatching and observing a variety of aquatic and terrestrial wildlife. Along the trail, you will see tree species such as the strangler fig and the towering kapok. After returning to the Ecolodge for lunch, you will have free time to walk our trails, explore the gardens, swim in the Gallocunca stream, or relax in a hammock on your cabin porch. After dinner, your guide will present information on the caiman species of Tambopata, followed by a night river excursion to observe caimans and other nocturnal rainforest wildlife.

Day 04: Deeper into the forest

Today, we will travel deeper into the forest to explore the wetland ecosystem surrounding Lake Sachavacayoc. After a brief boat ride downriver, we will reach the lake via a forest trail that includes raised walkways and bridges over streams and marshes. Along the way, you may see capirona, strangler fig, palo santo, bamboo and several palm species. The forests around this oxbow lake are rich in birdlife, while the waters are home to black caiman and green anaconda. With luck, you may also spot the rare Amazon giant river otter. We will paddle across the lake for about an hour, then return to the river by a different trail as our naturalist guide searches for wildlife. Capuchin and squirrel monkeys are often seen here. In the late afternoon, you can relax in a hammock or swim in the nearby Gallocunca stream. After a buffet-style dinner, enjoy the evening socializing with other guests in the bar and lounge.

Day 05: Morning river journey and flight to Cusco
Your stay in the Amazon forest ends on this fourth day with a magical morning return by river for your flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco. This is an excellent time for wildlife observation as the forest awakens. Looking out for rainforest fauna from our boat with your naturalist guide is a perfect way to bid farewell to Peru’s tropical forests. IMPORTANT: Please confirm your flight departure details (airline, flight number, estimated arrival time) so our team can arrange your airport drop-off. Your flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco should be in the afternoon, after 13:00 hrs. Upon arrival in Cusco, we will welcome you at the Cusco airport and take you straight to your hotel. No tours are arranged for this afternoon.

Day 06. Afternoon Cusco City Tour.
The tour begins at 1:00 p.m. with visits to Cusco’s key landmarks. You will explore the Cusco Cathedral, renowned for its colonial artwork and religious treasures that showcase the blend of Spanish and Inca cultures. Next, visit Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun, once covered in gold and regarded as the most sacred Inca site. In the afternoon, private transportation will take you to the surrounding Inca ruins. Sacsayhuamán features massive stone walls and panoramic city views, highlighting Inca engineering. Qenqo is a ceremonial site believed to have been used for rituals and astronomical observations. Puca Pucara served as a military and administrative complex, while Tambomachay, the Temple of Water, demonstrates Inca hydraulic engineering. The tour concludes with your return to Cusco at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Day 07: Sacred Valley Tour - ( Pisac - Salt Mines  - Ollantaytambo)

Your Sacred Valley tour begins with a 7:30 a.m. hotel pickup in Cusco. As you travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you will see dramatic Andean landscapes and fertile farmland that were central to Inca agriculture and spirituality. The first stop is a traditional alpaca and llama farm, where you will learn about llamas, alpacas and vicuñas and their significance in Andean culture. Next, visit a local weaving center to observe artisans demonstrating ancient textile techniques. You will see how natural fibers and dyes are crafted into colorful, handwoven textiles. Continue to the Pisac Inca archaeological site, known for its agricultural terraces, ceremonial areas and panoramic views. After exploring the ruins, visit the Pisac local market to experience traditional crafts and local culture. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant along the Urubamba River. In the afternoon, visit the Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of salt pools have been in use since Inca times. The day concludes with a guided tour of the Ollantaytambo Inca site, famous for its stone terraces and strategic importance. Day 08: Hike 2 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Your day begins with a 5:45 a.m. hotel pickup in Ollantaytambo. Your guide will walk with you to the train station, then you will take a scenic train ride to Km 104, the starting point of the 2-day Short Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you will pass through the checkpoint and present your original passport. After a short briefing, you will prepare for the hike by applying sunscreen and insect repellent, organizing water and readying your camera. The hike starts with a gentle ascent to Chachabamba, an important Inca complex thought to be a ceremonial gateway to Machu Picchu. After a guided tour, you will continue uphill for about three hours to Wiñay Wayna, known for its agricultural terraces and temples. After exploring the site, you will have a freshly prepared lunch by your trekking chef. After a brief rest, you will hike for about one hour to Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate, which offers your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. From there, you will descend to enter Machu Picchu through the upper section of the citadel, known as Circuit 1, famous for its classic views. After taking in the scenery and capturing photos, you will take a bus to Aguas Calientes and stay overnight in a comfortable hotel, preparing for the next day's exploration.

Day 09: Machu Picchu Guided Tour & Return to Cusco

Today features a guided visit to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your day begins with an early wake-up call and breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes. You will board an early bus to the Machu Picchu citadel, arriving during the quieter morning hours. Upon arrival, you will take a guided tour of Machu Picchu via Circuit 3, the official route for all Inca Trail hikers as required by Machu Picchu regulations. This circuit covers the central and lower sectors of the citadel, including ceremonial rooms, the Temple of the Sun, sacred water fountains, agricultural terraces, and residential areas. Your guide will share insights into Inca history, architecture, astronomy, and daily life during the 2.5-hour tour. After the guided tour, travelers with a reserved Huayna Picchu hike (subject to availability and an additional fee of USD 75 per person) will begin their ascent for panoramic views of Machu Picchu. Those without a Huayna Picchu ticket will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, with free time to explore the town, shop, or have lunch at a local restaurant (not included). In the afternoon, you will board the return train through the Sacred Valley. A private driver will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco. Arrival is expected at about 8:00 p.m., concluding your Machu Picchu experience.

Day 10: Hike Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley

Prepare for an exceptional day. Your guide will collect you from your hotel at 4.30 am for a three-hour drive to the trailhead. We will stop for a substantial breakfast en route. At the trailhead, at 4,350 meters, we will prepare and begin our hike. The high altitude brings a cold, dry climate, so please dress warmly. The 4-kilometer trek to the summit of Rainbow Mountain, or Winikunqa, takes about 2.5 hours and reaches 5,150 meters above sea level. At the summit, you will have time to enjoy the scenery and take photographs. The vibrant colors of Rainbow Mountain create a unique visual experience. We will then continue to the Red Valley, behind Rainbow Mountain, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the red landscape. After exploring both sites, we will return along the same path to meet our driver. A scenic 50-minute drive will take us to a restaurant for a well-deserved lunch. After lunch, we will return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel. Arrival is expected by 5:30 pm. This day offers exceptional natural scenery and memorable experiences.

Day 11: Flight to Lima & Arrival Transfer

About 2 hours and 20 minutes before your flight, our driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport. After saying goodbye, you will board your flight to Lima, Peru’s vibrant capital.

Upon arrival in Lima, our local representative will welcome you and escort you to your hotel. Sit back and relax as you are transferred to your accommodation, where you can unwind and prepare for the next stage of your journey.

Day 12: Full-Day Ballestas Islands & Huacachina Sandboarding Tour

The tour begins with a 5:00 a.m. hotel pick-up in Lima, followed by a comfortable drive south along the Pan-American Highway to Paracas. Along the way, you will see the landscape shift from city to desert and ocean. Upon arrival, you will go to the pier to board a motorized boat for a guided excursion to the Ballestas Islands, known as the “Galápagos of Peru.”

During the boat tour, you will observe diverse marine wildlife, including sea lions, Humboldt penguins, pelicans, cormorants, and other seabirds. The tour also features the Paracas Candelabra, a large geoglyph etched into the desert hillside with debated origins. The excursion lasts 1.5 to 2 hours and offers excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife observation.

After the Ballestas Islands tour, you will travel to Huacachina, a desert oasis surrounded by sand dunes. There, you will experience a dune buggy ride and sandboarding for an exciting adventure. You will also have free time to relax, explore the oasis, or have lunch at a local restaurant (lunch not included).

In the afternoon, you will return to Lima, arriving at your hotel in the evening after a day of adventure, wildlife encounters and desert landscapes.

Day 13. Lima Culinary Experience & City Tour.

Today, you will experience traditional Peruvian cuisine. At 9:30 am, our guide will pick you up from your hotel and accompany you to a local market. As you walk through the market, your guide will introduce you to a variety of ingredients, including vegetables, fruits, grains and meats, many sourced from nearby regions. Following the market visit, you will join a cooking class where the chef will present the dishes and drinks you will prepare, such as ceviche, lomo saltado and papa a la huancaína. You will then enjoy the meal you have prepared.

At approximately 2:00 pm, your city tour of central Lima will begin. Highlights include the Palacio del Gobierno (Presidential Palace), Main Plaza and several notable colonial buildings. You will visit the Main Plaza, surrounded by historic structures including the Palacio de Gobierno, the official residence of the President of Peru. After an overview and time for photos, the tour continues to the renowned Saint Francisco Monastery and its underground catacombs. Additional sites include the De la Union Pathway, the Archbishop’s Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral and San Martin Square, a frequent venue for public events. Lima’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its well-preserved colonial architecture. Founded by the Spanish in 1535, Lima is one of the oldest capitals in South America and is known as the City of Kings. Your guide will highlight each site’s unique features, make regular photo stops and provide detailed explanations. At the end of the tour, you will return to your hotel.
