Today, you will commence the renowned four-day Classic Inca Trail, widely regarded as the most popular route on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Our company offers a convenient pick-up service at 7:00 am from your hotel in Ollantaytambo to the trailhead at Kilometer 82, marking the start of your journey. Your expert guide will escort you through the verdant cloud forests and breathtaking Andean scenery. As you make your way along the route, you will have the opportunity to learn about the ancient Incan trail system and the significance of the sacred sites you pass.

The day's trek is a gradual introduction to the trail, with an estimated distance of 11 kilometers to be covered before reaching the designated campsite at Wayllabamba. This gentle start allows for further acclimatisation to the altitude, while enjoying breathtaking landscapes and forging connections with the history embedded in every stone along the Inca Trail 4-day route.

This four-day hike covers a distance of 4,215 metres. After successfully negotiating the pass, you will descend into the Pacaymayo Valley, where you will camp overnight. Today's trek provides an opportunity to observe the diverse ecosystems located along the Classic Inca Trail 4-day route. You will have the opportunity to experience a variety of natural habitats, including alpine tundra, cloud forests, and subtropical zones, each of which is home to unique flora and fauna. You will have the opportunity to visit several important Incan archaeological sites, such as Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca. During these visits, your guide will narrate the historical roles and architectural features of the sites.

The day concludes at Wiñay Wayna, an exceptional ruin situated on a steep hillside overlooking the Urubamba River. Camping near this site allows visitors to explore one of the trail's most impressive archaeological wonders before the final day's early hike to Machu Picchu.

Our early morning routine begins at 3:30 am with an early breakfast. At 4:00 am, we proceed to the checkpoint, where we remain until 5:30 am. Following this, we will proceed on foot to the renowned Sun Gate (Intipunku), offering a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu, also known as the Lost City of the Incas. Your professional guide will then lead you on an in-depth tour of this iconic UNESCO World Heritage site, explaining its mysteries, history, and significance within the Incan civilisation.

After the tour, please descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch before boarding the train back to Cusco. On the final day of your seven-day Inca Trail experience, you will have the opportunity to reflect on the physical accomplishment and cultural enrichment of your journey.
